MY HERO I had my baby today, a bouncing little boy My heart was filled with gladness My head was full of joy His Daddy couldn't wait to see him His eyes filled up with tears And when I took my baby home My family all gathered and cheered. As the months rolled by and time passed by He grew so big and strong And when he went to school first day I naturally tagged along I felt so proud at open day he always did his best He often won a medal and I'd pin it on his chest.

Once more the years passed very fast and how my son did grow His 16th birthday came around, in the Army he would go His heart was set, his plans were made, and that was that for sure But as I closed my bedroom door my heart fell to the floor I was ever so proud of him but my son was a baby no more He had grown into a lovely man, and he knew what he had to do He set his heart on Army life and his plans he carried through The day he came home in his uniform, tears fell down my face I knew my boy was going away, in fact he was going to war My son was such a brave man and for his country he gave his life My heart it broke, tears fell to the floor When the knock came to the door And an officer in a uniform said, my son he is no more But my son to me will always be the man he was before So brave so strong and beautiful When he left me at the door And that's the day I'll never forget When my baby went to war. …
