Workforce Can Do Epsom Job; THE JOURNAL Journallive.Co.UK Racing Saturday, June 5, 2010 88 MOSCROP ON SATURDAY: Stoute's Colt a Real Contender for Derby Honours

Article excerpt

DESPITE a lack of experience, Workforce can get the job done for trainer Sir Michael Stoute and owner Khalid Abdullah in today's Investec Derby.

For the record, no horse beaten in the Dante Stakes has ever gone on to win the Epsom Classic, but Workforce does not know that and I doubt if Stoute will be losing any sleep over a statistic which should only worry the superstitious.

A big baby still growing up, Workforce will more aware of what is expected of him this time. A colt of real potential, he should be kept on the right side for the rest of the season as further improvement with every run is very much on the cards.

However, I have no intention of deserting him here.

His owner Prince Khalid has another string to his bow in Bullet Train, who earned his place after a convincing success in the Lingfield Trial. …
