Synergy Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League BURRADON and New Fordley can look back on their campaign with huge satisfaction.

Not only did they secure the Premier Division crown - scoring 66 goals and conceding only seven in the process - but they also won four cup competitions.

Their only disappointment came in the County Cup, which they failed to retain after losing in the final.

Other sides made bad starts to the Premier Division season but improved as the campaign went on.

Newbiggin and the Eagle held their own to finish in mid-table.

Rockcliffe Arms, however, found the going tough - as did Blyth Royal Tavern, who lost numerous players during the season.

However, the Tavern did reach the final of the JD Marnock Cup.

In Division One, favourites Ashington Mortimer took the title without losing a match.

The only points they dropped came when they were held to two draws at the end of the season.

The race for the runners-up spot went down to the last game, Tynemouth Gunner securing the place with victory against Monkseaton Hunting Lodge.

The Lodge, though, did turn the formbook upside down when they secured the Saints Shield by overcoming Mortimer. Northern Social Club just missed out on finishing second, but can be proud of the progress they made after being promoted from the Second Division last season.

The relegation battle also went to the wire with five sides in the dogfight.

Ashington White House enjoyed a late rally and nearly pulled themselves clear with two victories.

Bedlington Grapes found themselves in trouble after not being able to field a team.

This left them with points to make up to catch Blyth Seahorse, who managed to gain the point they needed to beat the drop.

Monkseaton Black Horse also eased away from the bottom.

Division Two was a close fight all season. …
