A MOTORCYCLIST and a taxi driver have died following separate tragedies on the same Teesside road. Both occurred on the A174 between Saltburn and Brotton in a three-and-a-half hour period last night. In the first incident, a taxi driver was travelling on the westbound carriageway of the road, near Saltburn Bank, at around 4.25pm when his white Ford Mondeo crossed onto the eastbound carriageway and came to a halt. Emergency services arrived at the scene and took the 65-year-old driver, from Carlin How, to James Cook University Hospital pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved and there are no suspicious circumstances, police confirmed today. Just hours later, at 7.45pm, police received another call to the A174 near to Brough House Farm - just a couple of miles further along the road. A 400cc Honda motorbike was travelling westbound when it collided with a Peugeot 306 travelling in the opposite direction. The 35-year-old biker, from the Loftus area, died at the scene. …
