The following is a compilation of reports from Beaches-area police departments:


- A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a crash about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Seminole Road.

An officer found a 1999 Saturn crashed and abandoned on the side of the road. The owner told police some animals were crossing the road and he swerved to avoid them. He said he called his wife for a ride home because the car was disabled.

- Police saw a 20-year-old woman riding a Quest bicycle about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Sailfish Drive and suspected it might have been stolen.

They were right. The woman told police she picked it up from the side of the road in the 600 block of Aquatic Drive. But a resident on Aquatic told police the bike was stolen, and the woman was charged with petty theft.


- A 27-year-old Jacksonville woman was arrested Thursday on charges of firearm theft and dealing in stolen property after police say she took a .25-caliber handgun from a hotel room at the Comfort Inn at 1515 First St. N. and sold it to a man for $10 to buy marijuana.

The woman worked at the hotel.

- A resident reported about 3:45 p.m. Friday that two girls' bicycles were stolen from an open garage in the 1000 block of 17th Street North.

- Two GPS computerized dashboard mapping systems were reported stolen Saturday during an auto burglary in the 2300 block of Costa Verde Boulevard. Another GPS was taken from a vehicle Friday in the 1500 block of First Street South.

- A car in the 1000 block of Fourth Street North was reported damaged Thursday morning after being struck by siding that had blown off the roof of a business at the Seawalk Village, about a block to the south. …
