Fourth of July: Music, Fireworks, Fun

Live music, family fun and fireworks are planned for the annual Fourth of July Liberty Celebration on Sunday at the SeaWalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach. The festivities will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.

"This is the celebration everyone loves so much," said PRI Productions President Randy Goodwin. "It's a family-friendly environment and we make sure the music appeals to everyone."

Goodwin has fond childhood memories of going to Jacksonville Beach with his parents to watch Independence Day fireworks. Now his company produces and sponsors the community celebration.

The music will begin at 4 p.m. with DJ Chill Will, followed by the bands Chroma at 6 p.m. and Sugar Bear at 8 p.m. There will be a children's area with inflatable games and face painting. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The main attraction is the fireworks show. Weather permitting, the huge display is scheduled to take center stage beginning at 9:30 p.m. As in past years, the fireworks will be launched from the end of the Jacksonville Beach fishing pier, lighting up the sky for miles along the beachfront and most of the Beaches area.

"There are still going to be a lot of bright colors, but people are also going to notice more pastel colors this year," said Michael Walden, vice president of operations for Pyro Shows. The Tennessee firm has produced fireworks shows for years in Jacksonville Beach, downtown Jacksonville and many other locations. …
