THIS is fugitive gunman Raoul Moat as he may look now, revealed in a dramatic new CCTV image released by police today.

The former nightclub bouncer was filmed with a distinctive mohican-style haircut in a Newcastle shop last Friday only hours before the start of his shooting spree.

He wore a tight-fitting, bright orange T-shirt with dark jeans and white trainers as he entered a branch of B&Q and appeared to have lost weight.

The images are the most recent pictures police have of him. They were taken the day before Moat, 37, shot his former partner Samantha Stobbart and killed her new boyfriend at 2.40am on Saturday.

On Sunday he also shot and critically injured a policeman.

He was videoed browsing the aisles of the hardware store in Scotswood Road, suggesting he may already have been planning to go on the run.

Northumbria Police's Deputy Chief Constable Jim Campbell said: "He looks different in these images compared with previous photographs.

"In particular they show his hairstyle, what he was wearing and the fact he seems to have lost weight. We're hoping these up-to-date images will help the public to identify him." The development came as the search for Moat entered its sixth day, with armed officers searching countryside around the Northumberland town of Rothbury.

This morning police marksmen surrounded a remote farmhouse on the edge of Northumberland National Park.

Around 12 officers with armoured shields approached the farm buildings, while snipers staked out vantage points on surrounding hills. Police said officers supported by dog handlers had continued searching through the night but so far there had been no further sightings of their target.

The bodybuilder has been on the run for five days since he shot dead karate instructor Chris Brown, 29, just 48 hours after being released from jail on an assault charge.

As well as killing Mr Brown, Moat shot his ex-lover, 22-year-old Miss Stobbart, leaving her with critical injuries.

A day later he blasted Pc David Rathband, 42, as he sat in his patrol car. The traffic officer has also been left critically injured. …
