Public Safety; Nassau Beefs Up Its Beach Patrol for These Busy Summer Months

Summer is here, and the Beach Patrol is on duty. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office has increased patrol from Peter's Point to the south end of Amelia Island. Deputies will be performing public safety duties along with enforcing state and county laws. Beachgoers are reminded that alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted, and dogs must be on a leash at all times. Violations of these ordinances range in cost from $102-$302.

"More people will be out enjoying the beautiful beaches in Nassau County, so we want to make sure beachgoers stay safe and follow the law," said Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Seagraves. The Beach Patrol will be on duty through Aug. 31.

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN BUSINESS BURGLARIES, HUSBAND SOUGHT

After following a tip, detectives with the Nassau County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman they believe was involved in burglaries of a western apparel store and a bar in Hilliard.

Detectives say a man and a woman broke into Callie Kays General Store and Outfitters on June 18, went through an empty cash register and then stole a display rack and 48 cell phone cases. Detectives say the pair broke into Kings Bar and Treehouse Lounge the same night and went through a cash register which was empty. A surveillance camera captured images of the two.

Detectives arrested Angel Louise Bethune, 35, of Callahan on Wednesday and charged her with two counts of burglary and one count of grand theft. She was being held in the Nassau County Detention Center with bail set at $22,000.

Authorities continue to look for Bethune's husband, Bobby Lee Bethune, 38, of Callahan. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bobby Lee Bethune should call the Nassau County Sheriff's Office at 225-0331 or 879-1563.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR GIVING ALCOHOL TO MINORS AT PARTY

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 37000 block of Pineridge Road in Hilliard in reference to disputes and fights.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies arrived and talked with several people who were at a party at the address, most of whom were 18-20 years old and had been consuming alcohol.

The homeowner, Tobi Ann Hartley, 39, of Hilliard was arrested after a witness identified her and told deputies that she had purchased alcohol for the party. …
