Safety Fears Revealed about Park Where Girl Drowned on Holiday

A TEENAGER who drowned at a water park only weeks after locals expressed safety fears was named today as Kajau Davi, a pupil at Feltham Community College in west London.

The 15-year-old, who was on holiday with her parents, was playing in the water at the public "beach" at Cotswold Water Park in Gloucestershire on Sunday when she got into trouble. A boy playing football nearby pulled her from the water. A lifeguard tried to revive her and she was taken to hospital in Swindon but died the following day.

Today it emerged that the local parish council wrote to the district council last month expressing concerns over the health and safety standards at the tourist attraction.

Murial Watkins, clerk of Somerford Keynes parish council, said in the letter: "In particular the concerns were about insufficient first-aid officers and insufficient lifeguards on the beach."

Watermark, which manages the park and beach, denied claims that there were not enough staff and said four lifeguards, two off-duty lifeguards and two managers had been on site. …
