Byline: ROB PATTINSON

GUNNED down Samantha Stobbart still loves Raoul Moat the jealous ex who opened fire on her.

The claim was made by her half sister, who confesses she now "feels sorry" for the body builder who took his own life at the end of a week long manhunt.

Kelly Stobbart, says she wept when she heard the killer's voice in tapes of secretly recorded conversations with social services.

The 27-year-old said it sounded like the "Raoul she knew", before he became Britain's most wanted man.

Kelly said hearing his pleas for psychiatric help, in conversations with social services, made it obvious he had tried to get help and had been "failed by the system".

She said: "It upset us hearing his point of view, I wish he'd been given help, there's people out there who could've helped him.

"He just seemed lost when I heard his voice, he was crying out for help. I feel so sorry for him, he was disturbed.

"I know what he did was wrong, but the whole thing just makes me so sad."

Kelly also revealed she broke down in tears when she heard the screams followed by a blast, which ended Moat's life, and a six hour stand-off with cops, on the riverside, in Rothbury, Northumberland.

"I felt okay when I saw him surrounded by police," she said.

"I thought he would go quietly, but I know his voice and I heard him shout then blow his head off.

"I cried my eyes out. At the end of the day my niece has lost her father. I know he's done wrong, but at some point his daughter is going to find out about all of this.

"My sister still loves him." Kelly says her family's ordeal is far from over, as Sam, 22, continues to fight for recovery in hospital.

The victim reportedly relapsed when she was told about Moat's death, ahead of an operation to ease swelling on her stomach.

And it is understood plans are now being put in place to give Sam full-time police protection once she is released from hospital due to a growing online hate campaign against her. …
