WHEN John Mas told me yesterday he had found two kittens that had been left to starve, it was a subject that hit close to home.

A few years ago, my partner and I were driving down the Bruce Highway when we noticed a Jack Russell chasing semi-trailers.

We ended up taking the little adventurer home, noting he had a tag so he could be easily returned to his rightful home on Monday morning.

Long story short, Monday came around and the phone was disconnected and the house was empty Co someone had left this animal to starve by the highway when they had so many other options.

Why couldn't they have taken him to the RSPCA?

Why couldn't they have asked a friend if they wanted him?

Why couldn't they put an ad in the paper?

While the RSPCA gets limited funding and space, I have never heard of them turning an animal away. …
