WELL, it finally had to happen, not many anglers about between the showers and wind gusts over the past week.

But a few hardy souls did soak a line and managed to come up with a fish or two, mostly in the estuaries.

A new leader has emerged in the flathead section, a good fish of 6.5kg, caught by Col Silvia down in the Nambucca River, on a live poddy.

Colin weighed his flathead in at the DSFC, and was pretty pleased with his effort, but it still can be beaten

Bream anglers have been mostly confined to the river and creeks and Jack Nolan of Mylestom caught his bream just off his doorstep on a soft plastic. The bream went 770g, and with a few others, made up a great meal for the family.

Whiting have been on the quiet side, but R Prato, of Sawtell, still managed a nice fish of 490g which he caught at Boambee, using a peeled prawn. …
