NORTH Coast Juniors took two wins from the three games against Northern Rivers in the 10th year of the annual Australian Rules series.

These games for players from under-12 to under-16 showcased some of the best junior AFL footballers from the Queensland border down to Nambucca and Macksville.

The under-12 game came down to what was almost the last kick of the day before the North Coast were able to defeat their opponents from the north. In the last quarter with the aid of a strong wind and very vocal spectators on the boundary North Coast were able to kick four goals to just a single behind for the Northern Rivers to snatch the victory.

Final scores were North Coast 6-6 42 to Northern Rivers 5-6 36.

Best players for North Coast were Jack Hardman, Josh Little, Jonty Neaves and Oscar Anderson.

In the under-14s a scoreless second quarter for the North Coast proved to be their undoing on the day. Although North Coast managed to outscore the Northern Rivers in three of the four quarters, the four-goal-to-zero scoreline in the second quarter while kicking into a strong wind was too much for North Coast. …
