WATERVIEW Heights woman Suzette Collen had a fright on Monday night when a rock was thrown at her car from the Mary Street railway viaduct in Grafton.

Mrs Collen was driving home from work just after 6pm when someone standing on the railway viaduct dropped a rock on her car, putting a sizeable dent in the roof and narrowly missing the driver's side windscreen.

"I couldn't believe it, I was just gob-smacked; I heard this whopping great thump," Mrs Collen said.

"All I was thinking was a[approximately]oh my god, what if it'd come through the windscreen'."

The dent on the car was on the roof just over the driver's seat; 30cm lower and it would have struck the windscreen directly in front of Mrs Collen's head.

"I was just so upset, I was shaky; really, really shaky," she said.

Mrs Collen pulled over around the corner and called the police, who are investigating.

Because it was dark, Mrs Collen said it was impossible to know how many people were standing on the viaduct at the time. …
