A LITTLE bookshop and cafe on Kent Street has grown into a trendy meeting place for Maryborough's art community and the perfect venue for up-and-coming musicians to make a name for themselves.

When Janet Revill opened Janet's Art four years ago she never imagined the business would grow to encompass such a wide variety of entertainment.

"I envisaged it as art and books but the music has grown from having just a few CDs on the shelf to regular performances," she said.

"It adds extra atmosphere to the place and it's good for our local musicians because there's a lot of talent in Maryborough and people need a venue where they can become better known."

Hervey Bay harpist Susan Galun performed in the courtyard at Janet's Art for Saturday's lunch time crowd.

The intimate setting, complete with water fountain and hanging blooms, was the ideal spot to relax on a sunny winter's day.

"Now is the perfect time to be out in the courtyard," Janet said. …
