CONSIDERING the early hours and their recent travel schedule, it's a good thing ABC Radio's AM program chose a cafe to broadcast from when visiting Ipswich today.

The ABC radio show, one of the longest running current affairs programs in the country, started setting up at the Steam Expresso Bar about 5.30 this morning.

Having flown from Perth to Darwin and then to Ipswich in the past three days, there's a good chance the radio crew will need a few flat whites to help kick-start their morning.

When host Tony Eastley hits the airwaves for an 8am live national broadcast, cafe owners Neil and Jan Crabb said they will be hard at work behind the counter.
