A WEEKEND pub brawl has resulted in police charging a 20-year-old man after an alleged glassing incident.

Around 11.40pm Saturday, a 24-year-old man received a laceration to the right side of his forehead after allegedly being struck twice with a glass.

The alleged incident occurred in licensed premises in Agnes Water which involved an argument and physical altercation between a number of people.

The injured man was transported to the Bundaberg Hospital for treatment.

The 20-year-old man was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and is due to face Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 23.

Glassing has become an issue in Queensland pubs and clubs of late and many premises are choosing to use tempered plastic glasses instead.

Some venues have been forced to change to plastic glasses or face a $10,000 fine after being declared dangerous venues.

A proposed ban on glasses was first announced by the Queensland Government in July, 2009. …
