Mayor Serves Scones and Coffee; Special Morning Tea to Help District Seniors Celebrate Designated Week

GLADSTONE Regional Council Mayor George Creed will be dishing out something different to the community this month, all in the name of Seniors' Week celebrations.

Scones and sandwiches will be high on the priority list when Mayor Creed and his wife Leonie welcome the region's senior community to his C[pounds sterling]CyOld StationC[yen] property at Raglan for the annual Mayor's Morning Tea.

More than 250 residents have already booked their place at the morning tea, which will this year take place on Thursday, August 12, from 10am until 2pm.

The much-anticipated event is held each year as part of Seniors' Week celebrations and includes transport and entertainment combined with good old-fashioned home cooking.

Gladstone Regional Council's events officer Simone Alexander said the event would include tea and coffee, homemade sandwiches and cake and entertainment by Councillor Clyde Cameron.

Ms Alexander said a bus service would operate to collect seniors from select locations and take them to the morning tea and back for a small return-journey fee of $10. …
