Hurdles Give Ennis Double Vision for London Olympics

HEPTATHLON champion Jessica Ennis will consider competing in the 100metres hurdles at the 2012 London Olympics.

The 24-year-old beat Olympic champion Nataliya Dobrynska by 45 points in Barcelona on Saturday to add European gold to her world title.

Britain's captain got her campaign in Spain under way by winning the 100m hurdles, one of her favourite events, in 12.95 seconds.

Asked if she would consider doubling up for 2012, she said: "I'm 100 per cent focused on the heptathlon but if there is an opportunity to run the hurdles and I qualify and run a good time and the timetable fits then I'd love to do it.

"It's a home Olympics, it's a great opportunity and I love doing the hurdles."

Ennis's best time in the hurdles this season is 12.89 sec, which is almost a third of a second slower than the 2010 world best held by America's LoLo Jones. The Briton will not compete again this term so she can be in top shape for the defence of her world title in South Korea in 2011 and the London Olympics. …
