THEY say truth is the first casualty of war and there's little doubt about that when you so consider so much of what comes out in stories on the Israeli conflict Co and the war on terror in Afghanistan.

On one side of the debate you have people who seem to believe that all Muslims are harmless and that we should let them all into the country.

The other side says they are all terrorists and we shouldn't be just turning them away but sinking their boats.

Then we have highly inflammatory reports, saying that every Australian school student should be taught positive aspects about Islam and Muslims Co and that Australia is a racist country.

Australians are being told they must be taught to embrace difference and diversity.

Well, if we are going to educate people, let's really educate people.

Some of the subjects I suggest we cover are:

Many of those acting in the name of their religion haven't got a clue about the basic fundamentals

In conflicts there is always deception on both sides

Poor representations of religion and belief are the basis of most conflicts Co not the belief systems themselves

In conflicts, there is always spin on both sides Co and the truth is often found somewhere in the middle.

In recent weeks, I've been reading the book, Son of Hamas, which details the story of Mosab Hassan Yousef, the oldest son of a founding member of Hamas.

Yousef provides a fascinating insight into the deadly terrorist group Co and some fascinating revelations about how the Palestinians have tricked the media into some very one-sided coverage of the Gaza dispute.

As a young man he was raised in a strict Muslim family in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Before he was 20, he landed in an Israeli prison where he was tortured but where he also witnessed shocking abuse by Hamas inmates against other Palestinians. …
