New Dean of Business Research at University

Dr SONAL Minocha has been appointed associate dean of research, resources and external engagement for the faculty of business and law at the University of Sunderland.

She has moved from Anglia Ruskin University, where she was head of department of the Chelmsford campus of Ashcroft International Business School. Before joining Anglia Ruskin University, Sonal was dean and associate Professor at Raffles Education Corporation, south east Asia's largest private university.

She said: "The University of Sunderland has a client and innovation-led vision, and is outwardly focused. At the faculty of business and law we're helped by the success of transnational education. Throughout my career there is an international thread which will develop in my new position.

"I also want to focus on the regional impact of the business school and law department and work with companies to upskill employees and create bespoke programmes for both public and private sectors.

"Because the faculty encompasses business, law and tourism we have an advantage in being distinctive from other regional universities. The interlinking strengths of the three study areas have huge potential for innovative cross-disciplinary programmes. …
