Enrque Now Aims to Go on the Offensive; Left-Back Jos to Show That He's Premier Class

JOS[ETH] Enrque is ready to propel himself into the top echelon of Premier League left-backs.

The pacy Spaniard has pledged to battle hard to push himself into the top five English top-flight defensive left-flank specialists.

Chelsea's Ashley Cole might be the best in the world in Enrque's position, but the former Villareal man has backed himself to take Newcastle's Premier League return in his stride and mix it with the best of the best.

Gareth Bale at Tottenham and Gael Clich y of Arsenal always threaten with the ball at their feet, while Patrice Evra shackles the opposing right wingers at Old Trafford.

Enrque is confident that he can fit comfortably into keeping that level of company, while at the same time consolidating United's top-flight return. The 24-year-old could not have a better mentor than former Republic of Ireland No 3 and United boss Chris Hughton, and feels ready to establish himself as a dangerous presence on the Premier League scene.

"It's a great feeling to be preparing for the Premier League return," he enthused. "There's a fantastic atmosphere amongst the squad and everyone is raring to go.

"I really relished the challenge of the league last time around, despite the obvious devastation of relegation.

"It's going to be a real battle for us to establish ourselves again but it's one I know we can win.

"I'm desperate to do well for the club and I also want to keep improving my game. I felt like I had a good crack when we were in the Premier League before, but now we are back I want to take my game to new heights.

"There are some very high-quality leftbacks in the league, and Ashley Cole is probably the world's best right now.

"Players like Bale and Clichy are a constant danger on the ball, and that's how I want to be this season.

"It's important for the full-backs to get forward and offer themselves in a 4-4-2, and we've got to have that in our side of course. …
