Big Top's Sale Tipped; Agent Upbeat as Council Votes to Hasten Development

THE Big Top awhite elephanta that has haunted Maroochydore could be given a brighter future before the end of the year.

Potential buyers for the site, one of which is understood to be Lend Lease, have been locked in negotiations since it was listed in June, 2008, but marketing agents are confident a result is just around the corner.

Savills divisional director Peter Tyson said he expected the site to change hands amost certainly before the end of the yeara.

"I don't see the Big Top sitting there without change for another 10 years," Mr Tyson said.

"And the sale will be the trigger for redevelopment."

Mr Tyson's comments follow a confidential motion passed by Sunshine Coast council this week that it would push to speed up any application to redevelop the ageing centre.

Economic development councillor Lew Brennan introduced the plan to aauthorise the chief executive officer to expedite any development applicationa at the site, as long as it fit with council plans. …
