I NEVER thought I would write the next few words Co "I agree with Bob Katter".

If you missed it, Bob wants to secede from the south-east corner and draw a line just north of Rockhampton and start another territory.

It's not a new idea but it does have some merit.

Of course it is a protest against how this state is actually run. In Bob's view, the government's attitude is that if it isn't in the south-east corner then it's not worth spending any money on.

I do agree in part, particularly when I read the other day that our wonderful State Government has reportedly spent 72 times more money on infrastructure on the Gold Coast than the Sunshine Coast.

Add that little statistic to the go-slow hospital project on the Sunshine Coat and I am warming to Bob.

In saying that, who would want to live on the Gold Coast with its so-called investment in infrastructure?

It's more like adding an ensuite onto a massive sardine can.

Throw in the pay scandal in the health system where, in my view, the people that perpetrated the debacle should be locked up or at least chained to a bed with no bed pan.

How a so-called modern society like ours can let what has happened to those overworked underpaid staff without lynching someone is beyond me.

In saying that, I do know why.

We go about our daily lives with barely a thought to the ones affected because of one telling factor; the staff themselves keep doing the job, because they are on the whole dedicated to their work.

Imagine if it was the politicians that weren't getting paid, or most others for that matter?

Just to make Bob's argument a little stronger, on the back of the health bungle, a little bit like a chain smoker that is destined to get very sick, one disaster is still smouldering while another becomes fully lit.

I'm talking about Unitywater. …
