A NEW textile workshop CyMeddling with Metal' has been included in the spring Artsfest program tutored by Claire Brach, who will teach at Grafton for the first time.

Claire is a Sydney-based artist whose creativity has taken not only the Australian textile world by storm.

This is a carefully designed workshop that you can enjoy while having fun without the need to bring a sewing machine.

Don't be daunted, this will be a fun workshop. Using thick wire to form an art piece outline, you will cut, stitch, manipulate, colour, emboss and heat thin brass, copper and aluminium shim, meshes and woven metal cloth to add focal interest and texture. Embellish using fabrics, thread layering and wrapping, metal and wire weaving, brads, rivets, beads, yarns and coiled wire work. You will create dimensional work suitable for wall hangings, covered box lid, journal cover or even multiple wearable adornments. Claire's love of working with metals and wire began seven years ago as a natural extension to her embroidery and mixed media background. …
