BASKETBALL: The crowd was up to it, the Rockhampton Stadium Nightclub Rockets were there to play but the occasion was not one the Gold Coast visitors will remember with any warmth.

From the tip-off it was going to be the Rockets' night as they tore into the Goannas.

There is one thing a team needs to win a basketball match and that's the ball, but the Gold Coast could only look on as the Rockets put together a committed performance in which there was barely a weakness.

Each change of personnel employed by master coach Neal Tweedy added to the overall display of the team.

Tweedy had stated it is defence that wins finals and the Rockets had certainly been listening to their inspirational coach as they put bodies on the line to frustrate the visitors at every opportunity.

It was a team performance in the true sense but one player stood out for special praise and that was Mitch Philp. …
