Ploy to 'Run Down Hospital'; Allegations That Services Are Being Deliberately Redirected to Rocky

DOCTORS, nurses and patients claim the Gladstone Hospital is deliberately being run down by redirecting services to Rockhampton.

The Observer has been contacted continually by health professionals working at the hospital Co as well as by patients Co claiming that the hospital is under-serviced, under-equipped and understaffed.

In May, a doctor who had just left the hospital in disgust told The Observer he couldn't stay on any longer because of bad procedures, little assistance and practically no equipment.

"Don't get me wrong," said the doctor who still works for Queensland Health and would like to remain anonymous.

"The staff do the best they can, but the Gladstone Hospital is completely under-serviced.

"We have to send patients away up to Rockhampton for simple procedures because there aren't enough doctors," he said.

"Queensland Health will tell you nothing; the culture is to deny, deny and to deny again. …
