British Runner Prepares for 10km Race

DESPITE running for a large part of her life, Jacinta Duckering has chosen Australia a in particular the Bridge To Brisbane a to contest her first competitive 10km race.

Duckering, from the south-west of England, is living in Cabarlah with her husband as he completes a two-year exchange program with the Australian Army.

Canadian Korina Clarke has also come to the Darling Downs with her husband on a similar exchange and the women will join with Catherine Morris in running Sunday's annual Bridge To Brisbane.

This will be Duckering's first 10km event and she thinks it is strange she is this excited about spending her Sunday morning running 10km with an expected 50,000 fellow runners.

"I'm really looking forward to it, I'm sadly excited about a 10km run," she said.

The trio have been training four times per week for the past 14 weeks in preparation for the event, with their resolve tested by 5. …
