THE latest plan for Coffs Harbour's city centre and harbour precinct has raised the ire of at least one community coalition.

The outspoken Jetty Action Group (JAG) is so concerned about the plan released earlier this month by the NSW Minister for Planning, it wants the council to hold public information sessions to explain it.

In particular, JAG members argue the future of the waterfont should not be based on outdated, incomplete coastal erosion studies.

They claim studies cited in the plan use outdated assumptions about predicted sea level rises and the harbour itself is excluded from the studies.

JAG believes published artistic impressions showing a lush, green waterfront with minimal development are in complete contrast to the allowable uses for the zoning proposed for the harbour precinct. …
