RUGBY LEAGUE: Rockhampton Brothers centre Sam Granville faces an anxious wait after being sent off early in the second half of Brothers 22-16 semi-final win over Yeppoon Seagulls.

In the 51st minute, Granville lifted a Yeppoon attacker and allegedly placed him into a dangerous position after the Seagulls shifted the ball down the right side of the field.

Granville has a good record when it comes to the judiciary, but is still likely to miss the Challenge Cup grand final in a fortnight's time.

However, Brothers coach John Jenkins is confident he will be available. "I think he'll be all right," Jenkins said.

"He's not that kind of player.

"There was no malice in it whatsoever."

Dropped balls and poor discipline marred the opening exchanges with both sides clearly struggling following last weekend's grand final.

"We were flat. This time last week we were celebrating a grand final," Jenkins said. "It's hard to get back up after that."

Yeppoon was behind from the start when stand-in fullback Matthew Oates, who replaced the injured Nick Deaves after he was a late withdrawal, was brought down in a twisting tackle.

Oates was forced from the field in the sixth minute with suspected knee ligament damage and will get scans tomorrow, but appears doubtful for next weekend's preliminary final against Wallabys.

Along with Oates, halfback Brendan Harms was taken from the field just before half-time.

Yeppoon lock Gavin Hiscox took over the playmaking role for the Seagulls when Harms left the field, and was impressive. …
