LEN Kennedy still has his first car after 60 years.

The red paint is fading, but the Peerless pedal car he got at age two is still one of his favourites.

Mr Kennedy, owner of Garden City Tyre Plus, said that was when his love for cars began.

"My first car was a Mark II Zephyr when I was 17, but I don't have it anymore," he said.

"I did buy one at an auction a while ago for five dollars to do up."

Mr Kennedy bought his second car, a 1929 Ford Model A in 1965.

"I bought it from a neighbour as a paddock basher and I paid 15 pounds for it," he said.

"Then I decided to restore it and use it as our wedding car when I married my wife Rosemary.

"However, I didn't get it done in time and I finished it in 1973."

Mr Kennedy also owns a 1928 Ford Model A and he is only the second owner of the car. …
