COOLOOLA Coastcare hosted a Sunshine Coast Wildflower Walk on the coast recently.

Guided walks were held on the Wilderness Trail, the Great Walks Rainbow Entrance, Cooloola Cove-Tin Can Inlet and private land on Bayside Road.

Visitors and locals had a most enjoyable time, the flowers were spectacular and recently burned sections presented some curious formations.

Military exercises

AS you have probably already noticed, officers from Duntroon Military College, are holding exercise sessions here in Tin Can Bay and around in Cooloola Cove.

The army endeavours to make these sessions as realistic as possible, so officers can learn all they need to know in given situations.

With the attempt to make the sessions as real as possible, some of the action going on during the training can look very real and really dramatic.

One of the ladies at the Senior Citizens on Monday told how she and her car were involved in one of the mock training sessions. Another session was held in the IGA Supermarket, again appearing very real.

Visitors and residents are reminded that the officers will be here for a little while yet but you are in no danger during these exercises.

Give the officers plenty of space should you run into an exercise going on and be glad that they are receiving thorough training.

The soldiers being here puts me in mind that this week is Legacy Week.

Legacy looks after widows and children of fallen officers, work which still goes on. Would you like to help? Go into your nearest RSL and they will tell you how you can.

Winner

WHILE our politicians are still not sure who will be running the country, one thing was certain on voting day a I won the camping tent raffle held by Angel and Shannon on voting day at the Tin Can Bay P-10 State School.

Angel and Shannon were raising funds to compete in the Bunya to Bay race. I only bought one ticket and this time it was lucky for me! Thanks Angel and Shannon for running the raffle! …
