Man Goes on Wild Crime Spree after Break-Up with Girl

ANTHONY Nelson-Burns went on a wild 24-hour crime spree after a relationship break-up and stalked his former partner, cut up her clothes, tried to run down two of her friends in his car, and then he set fire to her residence.

The arson attack on his former partner's Broadsound Road unit caused $25,000 in damage.

Nelson-Burns, 22, pleaded guilty in the District Court in Mackay yesterday to arson, burglary with violence while armed, stalking with violence, and dangerous driving, all on February 9 and 10 last year.

His on-again, off-again partner of about six years broke up with him and police served him with a Domestic Violence Act protection order, Crown prosecutor Brendan Manttan said.

He went back to the unit, broke in, demanded money off her so he could leave Queensland, fought with her and sat on her chest. He also got a knife and slashed her clothes.
