BALLINA man Gareth Knight hasreceived a suspended 12-month jail sentence following his one-man crime spree breaking into cars, a Baptist Church, the Ballina District Community Services Association and a preschool.

Knight, 26, pleaded guilty in LismoreLocal Court to a series of break, enter and steal, and larceny offences, in August last year, causing thousands of dollars damage to his victims' vehicles and property.

Police facts before Magistrate Robyn Denes stated Knight's criminal activities included ransacking the Baptist Church in Kerr Street, stealing a tin of coins and a projector valued at $2685.

He also smashed windows of cars parked at Ballina Central shopping centre to steal items from inside; smashed a glass door at the Fox Street Preschool, and; stole a first-aid kit and hammer, $200 cash, fishing tackle, digital cameras and a video camera from Ballina District Community Services Association. …
