Record Feast in Ipswich Series

Article excerpt

IPSWICH Greyhound Racing Club conducted three feature events last Wednesday night.

While the fields looked competitive, each race produced a comprehensive winner and a race record.

Geoff and Beryl Draheim's Auriga Fox romped home by seven lengths in the Ipswich Derby final to collect a $5000 winning prize.

In running 30.37s, the home bred son of Black Lee and Auriga Gypsy broke High Earner's race record of 30.54, set last year. Auriga Fox also equalled the feat of High Earner, who last year won the Vince Curry Memorial and the Ipswich Derby.

The daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and Woreddy finished six lengths clear of her rivals in 30.58s.

The race record is held by Xanadu's Image at 30.56.

Fine display has raced just 19 times for five wins at Ipswich, two at Albion Park and two at Lismore.

Trainer Shayne Parker, of Coominya, wouldn't be aiming too high to set Fine Display for next month's Lismore Cup, then the City of Ipswich Gold Cup.

THE Past Members Memorial Trophy was run over 630 metres last Wednesday. …
