Fashion Graduate Is off to Harrods for a Year; Designer Shares Internship

ANORTH East fashion graduate has secured a highly sought after internship with a world-famous store.

Amelia Chester, who graduated from Northumbria University this summer, is to spend the next year learning from fashion experts at Harrods.

Amelia was chosen as a winner of the annual British Fashion Council Colleges Council Harrods Graduate competition after dazzling judges with her portfolio.

She also impressed during a three-week training placement at the store, which is in the heart of the capital.

The competition aimed to select one winner to become a paid intern with the buying team at the exclusive department store.

But judges were unable to choose between Amelia and joint winner, Jessica Madden from the University of Westminster, so the prize was extended to both fashion graduates.

"Both of the finalist''s presentations perfectly captured the Harrods customer, showing different strengths," said Marigay McKee, Harrods'' fashion and beauty director.

"Choosing one winner proved impossible, so we decided to offer them both an internship. We look forward to having them on board."

Amelia impressed the judges with her womenswear illustrations and innovative twists on design classics and a presentation about Harrods' womenswear product area. …
