Top Club Eyes Place in IRL Record Books

THIS season always shaped as a watershed year for the Brothers Football Club.

Decisions on and off the field were made with a view to creating history and becoming the first club in the 101 years of Ipswich Rugby League to win five premierships in succession in A Grade and Reserve Grade.

The preparation for this achievement began the day after the 2009 premiership win.

Twelve months later, the club stands on the brink of achieving that goal.

Creating history will not only see the club, but all of the players who achieved each one of the five premierships, go down in history as part of the greatest team to have played in the IRL.

Results notwithstanding on Sunday, the Brothers Football Club could not be more proud of all of the boys, and the fine job Heath McQueen and his coaching staff have done in 2010.

On final assessment, we have no right to be playing in an A Grade grand final this year because of retirements and season-ending injuries, which saw us use 37 players. …
