Article excerpt

Byline: TWIGGY

Home is... The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. I've lived there since 1966.

What was the last play you saw in London? I went to the first night of Deathtrap, starring Simon Russell Beale, which is a good old-fashioned thriller. It was so scary it made me jump and some members of the audience were even shrieking. What advice would you give a tourist? Go to the theatre and the museums because they're some of the best in the world. My favourite is the V&A, which I can walk to from my house. Which London shops do you rely on? I love Westbourne Grove and Portobello Road for the quirky shops. Selfridges is such a beautiful shop, I go there for designer fashions. I'm a boot fanatic; my current favourites are Russell & Bromley suede ankle boots. I have them in four different colours. Marks & Spencer in Marble Arch because it always has the newest Per Una, Limited and Autograph collections. I've also always worn its undies because they're the best. Which is your favourite London restaurant? San Lorenzo in Knightsbridge. I've been going there since 1966 so it's like home to me; the owners Mara and Lorenzo are old friends. They do a simple chilli and tomato pasta that is to die for.

What's your earliest London memory? I won an art competition aged six for a painting I did called The Queen Going for a Walk. The prize was a party on Park Lane and I remember going there on the bus with my mum in a pink party dress and silver shoes. Each child had a celebrity guest to look after them and mine was Rolf Harris, who was lovely.

What are your guilty pleasures? It used to be cigarettes but now I have a couple of squares of Green & Black's butterscotch chocolate after dinner. What was the last album you downloaded? Michael Buble's Crazy Love. I think he's gorgeous with a great voice and I love his covers of old classics. What would you save from a fire? Family photo albums because they are irreplaceable.

What are you up to at the moment? I'm going to Florida to work on my fashion line, Twiggy London. I'm also going to put together an album which I'm really excited about. It will be a mix of old and modern classics. …
