PEGSWOOD Ex defeated Bedlington Station Railway 3-0 in the first round of the George Cave Cup with goals from Wyn Fremlin, Steve Dolan and Michael Adamson.

Despite it being only two games into the new season, Division One looks like it could be wide open.

Woodhorn Lane bounced back from last week's surprise loss as goals from Kyle Reardon and Andy Spratt saw them defeat visiting Red Row Brick Club 2-0. Amble Pier 81 also returned to winning ways as they thrashed hosts Blackthorn Rovers 12-0 thanks to Josh Hay (3), Andrew Metcalf (2), Ross Gair, Ricky Hume, Paul White, Brett Robertson, Shaun Taylor, Chris Glass and Darren Kendall.

Stobswood Welfare turned the tables at Travellers Rest as David King, David Purvis and Kevin Bell helped secure the 3-1 vcictory, Scott Murray with the reply. Bomarsund SC began their season by triumphing 6-2 at East Chevington.

Kris Grey bagged a hat-trick, Jamie Thompson a double and Ross Muter with the other, Chris Godfrey and Stu Omen replying for the home club. …
