IT WAS the last autograph signed by Jackie Sinclair and it will help raise money to support the kids of Tyneside who dream of following in his considerable footsteps.

I know that would have pleased the wee fella.

Terry Sweeney, a member of the Fairs Club and an official of Wallsend Boys' Club, had a special black-and-white shirt sent up to Jackie's home in Dollar. Sinclair knew he was living on borrowed time but he desperately wanted to add his signature to those of his 1969 team-mates.

Now, with every team member having signed not only the shirt but a programme of the final against Ujpest Dozsa at St James's Park, the framed mementos will be auctioned at the boys club annual dinner next month.

"Nothing like this can be put together again with Jackie having sadly passed away, so it's a fabulous prized possession for every Newcastle fan," said Sweeney. "The shirt has been to the four corners of Britain and was also sent abroad to Benny Arentoft to make certain we had every signature. …
