Fischer Makes Light Work of Testing Track

MOTOR SPORTS: The course was tight and occasionally threatening but that only added to the challenge for rally sprint ace Gordon Fischer.

On Sunday it was a test for car and driver as 14 competitors took part in the Alligator Creek Rally Sprint.

It was the first time the course had been used for this style of racing. The only other event held there recently was the freestyle motocross event.

Fischer said the event, organised by the CQ Motorsporting Club, was a resounding success and the track was very challenging.

"It is a two-and-a-half kilometre track and there were nine runs," he said.

"It was very challenging as it was tight and testing, so you needed to be precise."

Some of the cars found the circuit a little too challenging and five drivers pulled out with mechanical problems.

The conditions, which included a tight squeeze through trees, obviously suited the VW Golf Fischer was driving, because his winning time was well clear of the pack. …
