PICKING the best 17 players of 2010 was no easy task for your intrepid VB Gold Group 2 reporters.

The spread of talent was the best for a decade with Macleay Valley the only club not receiving a jersey from either Whitey or Greeny.

And the under-age production line remains active as evidenced by our special list of a[approximately]next big things'.

But with the season coming to an end, time to hand out the gongs to deserving parties.

Best player: Danny Russell won last year but this time it's a dead-heat between Rusty and Ryan a[approximately]Bones' Prevett . . . with an honourable mention to Rob Toshack for a season cruelly cut short.

Rookie: Myles Bruce became Kid Dynamite at the back end of the season but watch for Jarrad Saul from the Mustangs and Ben Neaves at the Magpies in 2011 after their stunning debuts. …
