Hospital Pay Offer Rejected; Health Workers to Take Action

GYMPIE Hospital health practitioners want a better deal and will take industrial action to get one.

Queensland Public Sector Union regional organiser Ron Fossen said Gympie psychologists, scientists, radiographers and others would undertake work bans after rejecting a pay offer.

He said the bans in coming weeks wouldn't impact on patients, because it was not in the nature of the workers he represented.

But they would stop activity relating to quality information service including data entry; audits; performance and development reviews and stop working extra hours without paid overtime.

Mr Fossen said eight weeks ago the QPSU asked for a pay deal that would see the health professionals with a four-and-a-half per cent rise.

He said that figure was the same as what other Queensland Health employees had asked for but the government had only offered two-and-a-half per cent.

"It's just a terrible offer, inflation is well over three per cent,a Mr Fossen said. …
