The Delhi Games Holds No Fears

NEW Delhi holds no fears for Kookaburras player Matthew Swann who is playing for his fourth gold medal in 18 months from major tournaments when the Commonwealth Games gets underway next week.

Swann and his Australian hockey teammates held their last training run in Perth yesterday, before jetting out for India tomorrow and their arrival at host city New Delhi on Thursday.

The No.1 ranked Kookaburras are favourites for the Games tournament after taking all before them in major championships, and the former Mackay midfielder is looking forward to the challenge despite fears that the Indian capital isn't ready and the threat of terrorism.

"It should be fine, I was there for the World Cup and everything went fine," Swann said.

"I think it's going to be a really good Games.

"It's very exciting to play at the Commonwealth Games and to get the opportunity to represent Australia."

Since breaking into the Australian team about 18 months ago, Swann has won three gold medals with the Kookaburras a two Champions trophies and the World Cup at New Delhi. …
