New Ipswich Body to Improve City Culture

NEWLY-elected Tennis Ipswich president Clint Fyfe expects a change in the city's co-operative culture after a major regional development in recent weeks.

Casting an eye over the talent at yesterday's Prince Ipswich Futures tournament at Leichhardt, Fyfe was thrilled to see a new incorporated body formed.

The Tennis Ipswich committee had its first meeting on Tuesday night.

"If we can grow the pie rather than grow our slice of the pie, that's really my philosophy,'' Fyfe said.

Fyfe said the main goal of the new body was to improve the strength of the sport in Ipswich, rather than dividing the players.

"We're not tracking ourselves against what the guy's doing around the corner but actually look at what the other guy in Brisbane is doing and what the other guy in Melbourne is doing,'' he said.

"If we can all have that philosophy, there will be less potential for in-fighting.

"It's exciting times ahead. …
