HONOURS were shared among clubs at the third DCB Youth Championship finals at South Hetton Cricket Club.

Washington continued their excellent record at junior level by defeating Durham City by 10 runs in the under-11 decider.

Despite the narrow margin of victory, Washington lost just one wicket while putting on 87, while City were eight down when their innings closed.

Durham bounced back immediately to claim the under-13 crown as they knocked off a challenging 99 set by opponents Tudhoe.

Tudhoe were playing their second game in a matter of hours after successfully completing their semi-final against Ryhope earlier in the day. In the under-15 final, Washington were looking to make it a great double for the club when they took on Philadelphia - but they came up against a bowler at the top of her game.

Thirteen-year-old left-arm spinner Rachel Petherick, who has excelled for the DCB girls age group team this season, bamboozled her opponents in a four-over spell in which she claimed five wickets for just seven runs. …
