Port of Airlie Housing Lots Turn Tide on Value Trends

A BEACHFRONT lot at the Port of Airlie development has achieved 69 per cent capital growth in just over a year.

The 800sq m block of land has beach frontage on Port of Airlie's new man-made Boathaven Beach on one side and an adjoining private marina berth to the rear.

According to National Property Research 2010, the typical capital growth in Airlie Beach for both houses and apartments over a 10-year period is 10 per cent to 15 per cent and this re-sale is one of highest achieved in the area.

In the same 10-year study, gains of 30 per cent or more accounted for about 18.5 per cent of total house sales.

This is said to indicate the potential for Airlie Beach to achieve strong capital gains in the future, which may help to lure interstate investors to the Whitsundays.

Meridien's Port of Airlie development has settled in excess of $40 million of beachfront land lots.

Construction at Port of Airlie is still on schedule with the completion of the first marina stage to coincide with the opening of the entry channel and The Boathouse Apartments at the end of the year. …
