Cavaliers Bowlers Push Claims

STEVEN Glover and veteran Adam Marjoribanks pushed their claims for regular representative honours with superb bowling performances in the Twenty20 trial match at Heritage Oval on Friday night.

Toowoomba Cavaliers cruised to an eight-wicket win over Brisbane grade club Souths on the back of tidy bowling from Marjoribanks and Glover and a dominant 73 not out with the bat from Peter Reimers.

Souths batted first and made a solid start, sitting at 1-29 before Marjoribanks (3-13) ripped through the top order.

His three wickets included the scalps of former Cavaliers teammates David Orange (4) and Nathan Stains (5).

Reimers (2-19) chipped in with wickets in the middle order, leaving Glover (3-15) to work through the lower order as Souths reached 9-109 from their 20 overs.

Cavaliers suffered an early setback in their chase as opener Nathan Ciesiolka (0) fell in the first over.

But this brought Reimers to the crease and he almost single-handedly reeled in the Souths total. …
