But the worst decision by referee Mike Atkinson was to ignore De Jong's vicious, trailing-leg lunge on Ben Arfa. The sound of the breaking bones sickened the stomach. Most of the TV pundits were diplomatic about it. It wouldn't do to say anything extreme, would it? Wimps. Later, the seemingly remorseless De Jong lunged a trailing leg again, against Tiote. Thankfully, Tiote kept his cool. I fear we may not see Ben Arfa again this season. How many legs have to be broken before the FA, Premier League and PFA do something? WHAT a great effort from United in the rain at Manchester. Going up against a team that's spent pounds 300m in two years, and the only way they can beat us is by breaking our best player's leg and one of the worst refereeing performances in recent years. Nothing at all went for the Mags yesterday, but they battled hard for the full 98 minutes, and probably shaded the game in terms of quality too. Tiote was magnificent in the centre, Jonas was at his best and Campbell looked calm and assured at the back. We've got two weeks to recover, regroup and prepare now for a massive game against Wigan.

The game turned scrappy after half time but even after City had regained the lead, we had a stonewall penalty appeal turned down.
