Armed Robberies A[euro][approximately]link' Probe

TWEED Heads detectives are investigating whether there are any connections between two armed robberies in two days.

The Banora Point Cafe on the Pacific Highway was yesterday held up by a man wielding a one-foot knife.

And on Tuesday afternoon a gunman unsuccessfully held up a Minjungbal Drive Newsagency.

Detective Inspector Shane Diehm said while the area is not experiencing a massive spike in robberies, one is too many.

"It's still dangerous and we're putting as much resources onto them as we can," he said.

"We're treating them as individual but not ruling out that they are related."

Police did not disclose what was taken in the robberies.

Yesterday's incident took place about 12.50pm. A male person dressed in all black with his face covered by a black bandana entered the shop carrying a knife about one foot in length. The male attempted to open the till in the shop.

The male is described as being in his early 20s about 187cm tall, Caucasian, and medium build. …
